There has been renewed interest in CO2EOR technology as crude oil prices continue to rise, the United States continues to see declines in conventional crude oil production and concerns about greenhouse gas emissions. The challenge for this technology is whether sufficient quantities of CO2 are available, whether the infrastructure meets the requirements, and whether the cost of CO2 is low enough. The 1673 potential CO2EOR candidate reservoirs were analyzed. In order to determine the availability of CO2, natural and industrial CO2 resources along the EOR candidate reservoir are illustrated. The cost of transporting industrial CO2 to the production site includes the cost of collection and the cost of transporting the pipeline, which will determine the economics and development of the EOR project. The analysis shows that CO2 can be increased by 1.2 × 106bbl per day and CO2300 × 106t per day if CO2 is increased by large-scale collection and purchase of industrial sources of CO2 and oil prices between $ 45-60 / bbl.
