在木雕题材上,莆田木雕具有鲜明的地域特色,这在很大程度上得益于莆田民俗文化的滋养。一方面,它具有稳定性;另一方面,它又具有变异性。这就要求木雕艺术家既要继承已有的题材,又要在一定程度上进行新的艺术构思,为莆田木雕这种艺术形式贡献力量。
In the theme of wood carving, Putian wood carving has a distinctive geographical features, which largely benefits from the folk culture of Putian nourishment. On the one hand, it has stability; on the other hand, it has variability. This requires that carved wood artists not only inherit the existing themes, but also to a certain extent, carry out new artistic ideas and contribute to the artistic form of Putian wood carving.
