This article analyzes the health status of urban and rural residents in the province according to the data on the causes of death in the disease surveillance system of Gansu Province from 1990 to 1994. The results show that the health level of Gansu residents is similar to the average level of the national disease surveillance system in 1992, and the urban health level is better than that of rural areas. The average birth rate in 1990-1994 was 20.88 ‰, and the average annual mortality rate was 5.85 ‰. The main causes of the health of residents in the province are due to chronic diseases such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, and tumors. Infectious diseases remain an important disease that affects the health of the people. The cause of death has changed from an infectious disease in the 1970s to a chronic non-communicable disease in the 1990s, and health care measures have been proposed.
