澳大利亚当代最有影响的作家考琳·麦卡洛在《呼唤》中塑造了伊丽莎白、茹贝、内尔、玉等一批各具个性的女性形象。而伊丽莎白更是倾注了作者的心血和独特情感。小说中的伊丽莎白天生丽质,外柔内刚,追求个性解放,明显带有作家自身的影子。伊丽莎白形象的塑造显然受作家自身的经历和西方女权主义运动的影响。
Australia’s most influential writer, Carolyn McCullough, created a series of individualized female images such as Elizabeth, Ruby, Neel and Jade in Call of Duty. Elizabeth is devoted to the author’s efforts and unique emotions. Elizabethan beauty in the novel, Rou Rou Nei Gang, the pursuit of individual liberation, obviously with the writer’s own shadow. The shaping of Elizabeth’s image is clearly influenced by the writer’s own experience and Western feminist movement.
