利用植物的遗传潜力和现代设施农业技术,实现单株作物产量最高,是近几年来国内外研究的热点。2001年底中国农业大学黄之栋教授领导的课题组,采用日本深液流浮板无土栽培技术成功培育出了单株13000多个果实的西红柿树,引起了国内外同行的广泛关注。由于黄瓜根系再生能力较弱,光温环境要求高,病虫害不易控制,国内在黄瓜单株最高个体的研究方面一直处于空白。2003年3月,中国农业科学院农业环境与发展研究所设施农业中心主任杨其长研究员领导的课题组,采用完全国产化技术——温室环境控制与基质无土栽培技术相结合,进行了我国第一株黄瓜树的试验研究,并取得了阶段性成果。
