最近30多年来,东亚经济持续高速增长,年平均增长率达到8％,远远超过世界发展中国家4.3％和工业发达国家3％的增长水平,成为世界经济发展史上的奇迹。世界舆论普遍认为,东亚经济最具活力和潜力,在今后一个较长时期内还会持续高速增长,而且在不久的将来将会超过欧洲和北美,成为世界经济的主导力量;世界经济的中心将逐步向亚洲、特别是东亚转移,21世纪将是东亚的世纪。大批学者和国际经济组织都参加到“东亚世纪”这一热门的讨论中来,并从不同的角度来论证这一发展趋势。
