In the early 1980s during the reform and opening up, a large number of artists studied in Germany with preferential policies of politics and economy. After their studies, many of them returned to work in education. The influence of German art in China today can not but be attributed to this period of history. With the continuous improvement of China’s economic strength, in recent years dizzying exhibitions of masterpieces have been introduced into China one after another. As a result, Chinese art organizations and collectors have become more professional and ambitious, and are strongly involved in the construction of contemporary world art through purchase. In September, “German 8” once again set off a boom in German art, and seven exhibitions and one forum focused on presenting us an opportunity to re-examine the interaction between China and Germany in the new era.
