This paper describes three Ordovician cold-water-forming cytoliths found in wells QB-1 and TZ-32 in the Tarim Basin, Tarim Basin, Xinjiang, namely Tanuchitina sp. C. achabae Paris, Linochitina pissotensis Paris and Siphonochitina bella sp.nov. The ages are from middle to late Ordovician. Cold-water type of calcite in the Ordovician are mainly distributed in the northern margin of the Gondwanaland and the United Kingdom and other high-latitude regions, along the edge of the Gondwanaland northward flow of these high-latitude surface cold water type into the low latitude Of the Tarim plate, the tropical subsidence allows them to survive in the deep-water basin phase with the proper ambient temperature.
