本报讯 8月2日获悉:Sun 公司宣布将着手开发一种代号“MAJC”的采用全新体系结构的微处理器,该微处理器专门用于处理复杂图像、声音及视频数据。MAJC 与传统 PC 处理器的最大区别在于,Sun 在设计过程中采用了模块化思想,使 MAJC 利用多个通用高性能计算引擎并行处理复杂运算。而标准 PC 处理器一般最多由3个分立的计算引擎组成,每个计算引擎专门处理特定类型的数据。
WASHINGTON August 2 was informed: Sun announced that it will begin developing a code-named “MAJC” with a new architecture of the microprocessor, the microprocessor designed to handle complex images, sound and video data. The biggest difference between the MAJC and the traditional PC processor is that Sun uses a modular approach to the design process that allows MAJC to parallelize complex computations with multiple general-purpose HPC engines. While a standard PC processor typically consists of up to three discrete computing engines, each computing engine specializes in handling specific types of data.
