It is expected that there will be tremendous growth in communication capabilities in the near future, but the key to success is understanding what people think is valuable and easy to make. In exploring the role of users in the future wireless world, the Wireless World Forum Human Prospects Working Group (WG1) has conducted in-depth discussions on four key areas: user-centered research and design Methods, Processes and Best Practices: Reference Architecture for Modeling User Needs in Wireless Systems: Creating and Analyzing User Situations: User Interaction Techniques. This article outlines the work done by the Working Group on Human Prospects in these areas, which is crucial to ensure that the wireless world in the future meets and exceeds the expectations of the people in the coming decade.
