我们在汉语口语中经常用到一些含有数字的表达，比如“一两个”“三三两两”等，你知道它们在英语中是如何表达的吗？
1. 一两个
你知道汉语的“一两个……”用英语如何表示吗？
方法一：用a（an）... or two 表示。如：
I？蒺d like to use the computer for an hour or two. 我想用一两个小时的电脑。
The doctor says you？蒺ll be all right in a day or two. 医生说你一两天就会好。
方法二：用one or two...表示。如：
One or two people can？蒺t come. 有一两个人不能来。
There are one or two signs worth watching for. 有一两个值得注意的标记。
另外，英语中的 a couple of 有时也可表示“一两个”。如：
I？蒺ll only be away for a couple of days. 我只离开一两天。
注意，英语习惯上不用 one...or two或a or two...这样的表达，如“一两天”可说a day or two或one or two days，但不能说成 one day or two或a or two days。
2. 一个半
如何用英语表示“一个半”？
方法一：用a（an）... and a half表示。如：
It weighs a ton and a half. 这东西重一吨半。
I finished the examination in an hour and a half. 我在一个半小时之内考试完毕。
方法二：用one and a half...表示。如：
She？蒺s one and a half years old now. 她现在一岁半。
He got married about one and a half years ago. 他大约是一年半前结的婚。
类似的，我们应该如何用英语表示“两个半”“三个半”“四个半”呢？请看例句：
The round trip was two dollars and a half. 来回票是两块半美金。
This happened four and a half centuries ago. 这是四个半世纪前发生的事。
3. 三三两两
如何用英语表示“三三两两”？
方法一：用by twos and threes表示。如：
They left by twos and threes. 他们三三两两地离开了。
The students are coming into the classroom by twos and threes. 学生们正三三两两地走进教室。
方法二：用in twos and threes表示。如：
People began to leave the meeting in twos and threes. 人们开始三三两两地离开会场。
Applications for the job are coming in slowly in twos and threes. 申请这份工作的信件三三两两来得很慢。
4. 另外三个
如何用英语表示“另外三个”？
方法一：用 another three 表示。如：
They drove for another three hours. 他们又行驶了三个小时。
I need another three driving lessons before my test. 考试前我还需上三节驾驶课。
方法二：用three other...表示（other后必须接名词）。如：
He has three other dictionaries. 他还有另外三本词典。
Three other boys ran into the trees. 另外三个男孩子跑进了树林。
方法三：用three others表示（others后不能接名词）。如：
Three others lay wounded. 另外三个人受伤躺在那里。
He tried， with three others， to rob a bank. 他试图伙同另外三个人抢劫银行。
方法四：用the other three表示（three后可接名词也可不接名词）。如：
One is a boy， the other three are girls. 一个是男孩，另外三个是女孩。
They took the other three away in an ambulance. 他们用救护车送走了另外三个人。
注：至于“另外四个”“另外五个”等表达，只需将 three 改为 four， five 等就可以了。
5. 每隔（一个）
如何用英语表示“每隔（一个）”？
方法一：用every other表示。如：
Write on every other line. 请隔行写。
We meet every other Tuesday. 我们隔周星期二见面一次。
I work every other day： Monday， Wednesday and Friday. 我隔天上班：每周一、三、五。
方法二：用every two表示。every two 的本意是“每两个”，与“每隔一个”同义。如：
You must take your medicine every two hours. 你得每两小时（即每隔一个小时）服药一次。
He gets home leave every two years. 他每两年（即每隔一年）有一次探亲假。
