今年64岁的张燮林曾在世界乒坛留下很多的“第一”。6月9日,在参加了举世瞩目的雅典奥运会圣火北京站传递活动之后,他感慨地说: “这个第一次真是令人难忘。”与前奥运冠军吕林一样,张燮林被中国奥委会推荐并入选为148名火炬手之一。自从乒乓球项目于1988年首次进入奥运会后,他连续参加了汉城、巴塞罗那、亚特兰大和悉尼四届奥运会,但作为奥运火炬手,还是生平第一次。
Zhang Xie Lin, 64, who has left a lot of “firsts” in the world table tennis. On June 9, after participating in the world-renowned Olympic torch relay in Beijing, he said with emotion: “This is the first time it is unforgettable.” Like former Olympic champion Lu Lin, Zhang Xielin was conferred by the Chinese Olympic Committee Recommended and selected as one of the 148 torchbearers.
