华宁县人民用自己的双手,在激流汹涌的盘江上,架起了一座雄伟的钢梁大桥。满载着货物的汽车、马车来来往往;老人们拄着拐棍走到桥上,到处摸摸看看,拈着胡子点头微笑。这座桥是华宁县人民尤其是盘江两岸人民盼望已久的,看到它,谁能不高兴! 汹涌的盘江水,隔断了华宁到盘溪间的交通,两岸间虽然有一座古老的木桥,但只能人行马走,不能通行车辆,物资运到两岸,都要用人力背到对岸。近几年,盘溪大量发展了甘蔗、棉花、烤烟等经济作物,每年需要运进大量的燃料、化肥和粮食,同时要运出大量的糖、烤烟和棉花,再不修桥,就将影响工农业的大跃进。
