In the history of the party's struggle over the past 60 years and more, there have been two historic leaps in the combination of Marxism and the reality of China. The former has found a revolutionary path with Chinese characteristics and led the new-democratic revolution to victory. The latter has found a road of construction with Chinese characteristics and opened up a new phase of socialist modernization. Although two historic leaps took place in two absolutely different social contexts, separated by more than half a century, there are striking similarities in many respects.
