许敬宗所处的初唐时期而言,前有齐梁诗风之余韵犹存,后有近体诗之格律完善,实为重要的过渡阶段。《奉和登陕州城楼应制》是许敬宗贞观中期由京官左迁外官后的久违之作,许敬宗必倾尽笔力而为之。本文从《奉和登陕州城楼应制》文本出发,考察其格式、诗意,并溯“三阶静”、“二南风”之源流,再加与君王诗对照。通过解诗,一窥许敬宗的真实诉求,探得贞观中唱和诗的最高水平,也发掘到许敬宗的文学创作与其性格、为官风格,乃至其命运的勾连之处。
