The Danish Army has signed a procurement contract with German-based Rheinmetall Military Vehicles (RMMV) to procure the Heavy Armored Emergency Vehicles (HTRV). The contract includes 14 HTRVs, each weighing about 36t. The car uses RMMV’s 8 × 8 SX45 heavy duty wheeled rescue vehicle’s fully enclosed chassis with Miller’s modular rescue kit to rescue heavy vehicles weighing up to 40 tons in complex battlefield environments. Models presented at the 2010 Satterine International Defense Depot with a 3 / 3b level ballistic and mine protection capability ensure that occupants are protected from light weapons and improvised explosive devices on the battlefield.
