There are two types of Nelumbo plants worldwide, and their geographical distribution is far apart. N. Iutea is distributed in North America to South America in Colombia, while N.nucifera is distributed in East Asia to the northeast of Oceania, both of which are distributed by the Pacific Ocean. The two species vary in morphology, but the difference between flower color and pattern is the most significant. The former body is smaller, the flowers are smaller and single-flower, yellow, few other colors. The latter’s body is large, large flower color, there are many semi-double and double petals, re-Taiwan varieties, red, white, pink, etc., except the lack of yellow type. According to our observations in the past two years, it is very easy to have sexual cross-breeding between the two species. According to incomplete statistics, the average seed-setting rate of N. napus as the female parent and N.lutea’s father’s 27 cross combinations was 60.9% and 7
