本文从高校图书馆具有的性质，丰富的馆藏，良好的读书环境三个方面论述了高校图书馆在社会主义精神文明建设中的地位和作用。认为高校图书馆要在社会主义精神文明建设中发挥重要作用，需在严把进书关、加强职业道德建设、改善服务质量、吸引青年学生到馆阅读等方面入手，使高校图书馆成为社会主义精神文明的窗口。
