On the fourth issue of “Sichuan Archives” in 1985, Liu Wenjie and Lei Rongguang 2 published a paper entitled “Origins of Papers and Records” (hereinafter referred to as “Origin”). The article argues that, as early as primitive society, the earliest documents (including original notes and written records) have appeared. This opinion puts forward a new viewpoint on the major theoretical issues in the archival study of the origins of clerical and archival materials. In particular, the author uses a large number of historical, archaeological and ethnological data to prove that it has broken through the boundaries between disciplines, so that the research on this issue has a certain breadth and depth. However, there are still some problems to be discussed in the text. I would like to discuss a few issues concerning the origin of documents and archives and some immature opinions so that comrades can correct me.
