Phenyl thiophosphonyl dichloride reacted with catechol n the presence of triethylamineto yield a pentacoordinated phosphorus compound 3. The reactions of a number of phosphorodi-chloridothioates with catechol gave a hexacoordinated phosphorus compound 8. The mechanismof these reactions are discussed.
