By the consultation of endemic disease expert consultative committee of the Ministry of Health, it decided to entrust the Institute of endemic diseases of Bethune Medical University with the endemic disease scientific committee of Jilin Province. From June 4 to June 6, 1991, the “National Keshan disease etiology and pathogenesis-cum Mountain Diseases and Dilated Cardiomyopathy Symposium ”. The 41 representatives from the 11 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions engaged in Keshan disease research institutions of higher learning, research and health care units.
