湖南省地处长江中游洞庭湖以南,东临江西,南毗两广,西接川黔,北连湖北,土地总面积211829平方公里,在全国居第11位。人口6127万,在全国居第5位。全省属亚热带湿润季风气候,年平均气温16—18℃,年平均降水量125O—1750毫米,是中国的“渔米之乡。洞庭湖是全国第二大淡水湖,总面积2740平方公里,为我国重要渔业基地之一。境内有湘、资、沅、四条河流,流域面积几乎覆盖全省。
Located in the south of Dongting Lake in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, Hunan Province faces Jiangxi Province in the east, connects Guangdong and Guangxi in the south, connects Sichuan and Guizhou Provinces in the west, and Hubei Province in the north.
