沈曾植(一八五零—一九二二),浙江嘉興人。字子培,號巽齋,别號乙盫,晚號寐叟晚稱巽齋老人、東軒居士,又自號遜齋居士、寐翁、東軒支離叟等。他博古通令,學貫中西,以‘碩學通儒’蜚振中外,譽稱‘中國大儒’。光緒六年(一八八零)進士,歷官總理衙門章京等職。一九零一年任上海南洋公學(上海交通大學前身)監督(校長),改革舊貌,成績卓著。他早精帖學,得筆于包世臣,壯年嗜張裕利;其後由帖入碑,熔南北書流于一爐。寫字强調變化,抒發胸中之奇,幾忘紙筆,心行而已。受到當時書法界的推崇,海内外求其字者頗多。沈曾植以草書著稱,取法廣泛,熔漠隸、北碑、章草為一爐。碑、帖并治,尤得
