明朝嘉靖年间兵部右侍郎杨继盛,曾上书奏劾专权误国的宰相严嵩,因而被诬陷入狱。临刑前,他对儿子作书面家训,留下一篇为后人称赞的家事珍文。这篇家训的主要内容是:一是要定下宏志。“幼儿立志为君子,后来也多有变成小人的。若初时不先立下一个定志,则心无定向,便无所作为,便为天下之小人……”二要思想端正。“心为人一身之主,如树之根,如果之蒂,最不可先坏了心……”
