1956年,平順县羊井底完全小学剛从初小基础上开办起来,設备很差,校舍是一座古老的破庙,教室狹小。学生宿舍借用民房,距离学校远,又分散,教师对学生的生活指导感到很大困难。校內桌凳殘缺不全,滿打滿算仅够三个班学生坐。体育設备一无所有。伙房厨具除去初小遺留下的几个小鍋和几个碗,其余用具向东邻西舍借用。个别教师因为有这些困难,要求調动工作;有些教师老是要求国家撥款;大部分外村的学生三番五次要求往条件好的学校轉学。学校领导鉴于这种情况,及时与乡社党政領导研究,对教师和学生作了一系列的思想工作。向全校学生提出“用我們的双手,克服一切困难,办好学校”的要求。在全体教师带領下立即行动起来,利用課余时間修整校舍和教学設备。仅仅几天时間,就修好了三个教室的讲台,粉刷了整个校舍,教师自己油漆了三張办公桌,一个公文箱,整修了二十一套坏桌凳。学校面貌焕然一新。全校师生情緒稳定下来。以后他們就继续开展一些活动,组织学生参加劳动生产。
