It is about to be put into operation at the No. 2 Vijayanaga cold rolling mill (annual capacity 2.3 million t) of the Gujarat Southwest Steel Company in Karnataka, India. This state-of-the-art production line is capable of producing high-strength steels up to 1,870 mm in width, GA plates (galvanized zinc-galvanized sheets) and GI sheets (hot-dip galvanized sheets). The 2 # cold rolling line includes a continuous annealing line, which is also the first continuous annealing line in operation in India. JFE Steel, which holds a 15% stake in the southwestern steel company, will provide technical assistance to the plant to develop various grades of automotive steels, including automotive panels, to meet the growing automotive use in India and in South East Asia
