Recently, Canada is also facing a difficult situation of economic deterioration. Since the Canadian economy entered a downturn in the third quarter of 1981, the situation has been rapidly deteriorating even worse than the United States for the rest of the world since the war. The crisis is manifested in the following aspects: long duration and large drop in production. As of the third quarter of last year, the crisis lasted for about 15 months, a quarter longer than several economic crises after the war. The gross national product dropped by more than 7%, double the decline of previous crises. Both agriculture and industry are severely affected. Compared with the same period of the previous year, the first seven months of last year saw a drop of 14% in industrial production, surpassing 86% of the largest decline in industrial production in previous crises. In the first half of last year, bankruptcies of peasants increased by 60% as compared with the same period of last year.
