土库曼斯坦总统古尔班古雷·别尔德穆罕默多夫取消了前任总统关于禁止芭蕾舞与杂技表演的命令。他指出:“国家在不断发展,我们日益繁荣的国家不应该站在世界的边缘,我们应该拥有自己的艺术表演,国家也应该拥有好剧院和杂技团。”土库曼斯坦前任总统萨帕尔穆拉特·尼亚佐夫在2001年颁布了禁止芭蕾舞与杂技表演的命令,而且停止了对国家杂技表演艺术团的拨款,因为他认为芭蕾舞和杂技是土库曼斯坦文化的异类。
Turkmenistan’s President Gourban Bhupal Berdymukhamud canceled his predecessor’s ban on ballet and acrobatics. He pointed out: “Countries are constantly evolving. Our increasingly prosperous country should not stand on the brink of the world. We should have our own performing arts. The country should also have a theater and acrobatic troupe.” "Former President of Turkmenistan Sapar Murat Niyazov enacted an order banning ballet and acrobatics in 2001 and stopped funding state acrobatic troupes because he considered ballet and acrobatics as a heterogeneous Turkic culture.
