不应过分强调美国经济的潜在力量读了你刊第六期谢曜同志的“再论目前美国的经济情况”一文后,有两点不同的意见提出向作者请教。我的第一点意见是:目前美国经济已不再继续上升,而是在步步下降了。谢曜同志把今年1月份的美国工业生产指数说成148,比1956年12月份的147还增加1点,这是—个极大的错误。我翻阅英美的报刊杂志,都没有这个数字。根据英国“经济学家”周刊(今年3月2日)的“美国统计数字”,今年1月份美国工业生产的总指数是146(以1947—49年为100),比1956年12月份减少了1点,而不是148。最近一二年来,美国工业生产指数尚未出现148的高峰。谢曜同志写道:“最高峰为今年1月的148”,不知道这个数字是从什么地方来的?如果没有根据,仅憑作者主观的想象,那是十分危险的。现在
Should not Over-emphasize the Potential Power of the U.S. Economy After reading the article entitled “Revisiting the Current U.S. Economy” by Mr. Xie Yao, No. 6 in your magazine, two different opinions were put forward to seek advice from the author. My first opinion is: At present, the U.S. economy no longer continues to rise, but it has been declining step by step. It is a great mistake for Comrade Xie Yao to say 148 the U.S. industrial production index in January this year, up from 1 in 147 in December 1956. I read the Anglo-American newspapers and magazines, do not have this figure. According to “U.S. statistics” by the British magazine The Economist (March 2 this year), the total industrial production in the United States in January this year was 146 (100 in 1947-49), down from December 1956 1 instead of 148.
