This article describes the method for calculating the pressure loss of a hot water thermal circuit. There are formulas that determine the best parameters based on the effective criteria adopted for the economy. These formulas can be applied when designing a thermodynamic program. When designing a heat supply system, it is necessary to determine the head loss that can ensure the economic diameter of the heat pipe. However, the method of calculating the basic parameters described in the “Guideline 1 of the Thermodynamic Design Guide” and some authors cannot be considered as satisfying the economic requirements. When using the formula introduced in the ’Guidance Guideline’, the pipe diameter is increased, often forcing a large specific pressure.
