For isothermal partial-load forming by die partitioning, in order to reduce the adverse effect of the loading area on the unloaded area, the partitioning on the tendons is generally used. Due to the local loading feature, part of the loading zone will flow to the unloaded zone during the forming process. The distribution of material flowing into the unloaded zone has an important influence on the forming process analysis, material flow control and forming quality improvement. The distribution of material flowing from the loading zone to the unloaded zone is mainly determined by the shape of the unloaded zone and the geometric parameters near the mold zone. If the unloaded zone is the formed zone, some of the material flowing to the unloaded zone will fill the partitioned rib cavities. Partial least squares regression was used to establish a prediction model for the material ratio of cavity inflow zone. Numerical results show that the analysis of the material distribution to the unloaded zone and the prediction model established are reasonable.
