李白一生的大半岁月是在隐逸漫游中度过的。他说:“我本楚狂人,凤歌笑孔丘。……五岳寻仙不辞远,一生好入名山游。”(《庐山谣寄卢侍御虚舟》)他不慕儒家圣人,愿为道教信徒,志在求仙,迹同隐游,所以“心爱名山游,身随名山远”(《金陵江上遇蓬池隐者》)。然而他是一位天才诗人,傲岸不羁,蔑视权贵,“兴酣落笔摇五岳,诗成笑傲凌沧洲”(《江上岭》)。所以在他创作的许多惊天动地的诗歌中,也有不少山水篇章,把山水诗推向一个新的高度,开拓了一个新的境界。
