我国第一个以建筑工人为主要对象的科学技术普及刊物——《建筑工人》,现在正式向全国发行了。这是我们建筑工人的一件大喜事。我愿借此机会,向《建筑工人》的广大读者和编辑部的同志表示热烈的祝贺。建筑业是国民经济中一个重要的物质生产部门。我们国家要实现四个现代化,建筑业负有光荣而艰巨的责任。工业、农业[国防和科学技术,要赶超世界先进水平,需要建筑业以最好的质量、最快的速度、最低的消耗,建设大批现代化的工厂、矿山、水库、电站、铁路、港口、机场和各种科学研究基地。改善人民的物质文化生活,也需要建筑业修建大量适用美观的住宅和文化、教育、体育、卫生、商业以及其他公共福利设施。
