Objective To investigate the effect of glycemic control of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) mothers on their delivery outcomes and neonatal blood glucose levels. Methods 180 pregnant women with gestational diabetes who were delivered in our hospital from August 2007 to July 2009 were selected. According to the pre-admission, blood glucose control during hospitalization was divided into good blood sugar control group (A group, 148 cases) and poor blood sugar control group (B group, 32 cases), and 180 cases of normal pregnancy (control group) Blood glucose levels were compared. Results The incidence of cesarean section and gestational hypertension was significantly higher in group A than in control group (P <0.05). The incidence of cesarean section, gestational hypertension, polyhydramnios, macrosomia, premature labor and neonatal hypothyroidism in group B were significantly lower than those in control group The incidence of blood sugar were higher than the control group (P <0.05). Conclusion The screening and management of gestational diabetes mellitus should be strengthened to control the blood sugar. It is helpful to reduce the complications of mother and infant, increase the vaginal delivery rate and reduce the neonatal hypoglycemia.
