在战火纷飞的年代,戎马倥偬,伟大领袖毛主席的驻地时常随军转移。警卫员为了毛主席工作的需要,行军时身背两个挎包,一个装笔墨纸砚,另一个装的就是两部词典——《辞海》和《辞源》。词典是学语文、用语文必不可缺的工具书。学用外语,更是离不开外文词典。为了了解外语词义、读法、写法以及成语、科学词语的含义等等,经常要查阅词典。文化革命前,毛主席曾指示有关单位编一部质量好的汉英词典。
