杉木“撩壕”造林是广东省怀集县林科所试验成功的科学造林方法。采用“撩壕”造林,六年亩产14立方木材,真正达到了速生丰产。1973年春,杭州市郊留下公社石马大队、龙坞公社横山大队、大农公社皋城大队、四季青公社常青大队也进行了试种,据9月上旬测定,平均幼树高36.6厘米,最高的达90厘米,平均根径粗0.72厘米,最粗的达1.8厘米,从栽植到测定(5个月)幼杉生长的新梢平均达25.2厘米,长得最快的新梢高达70厘米,生长势均优于“带状”或“块状”造林。据石马三队测定,“撩壕”营造的杉木幼林,平均新梢高为“带状”整地的
