Lucien den Arend (1943-) is a geometric abstract sculptor. His work is not imitation of any existing things, but the performance of things, is an ontological art. Most of his sculpture and earth art projects are public works of art. Dan Allen was born in Dordrecht, the Netherlands. In 1953 he moved with his family to the United States and settled in Los Angeles, California. From 1964 to 1966 he studied art and Russian at California State University in Long Beach. In the summer of 1965, the first American International Sculpture Symposium was held in the school (for the first time on the university campus).
