根据学生学习可能性的特点与水平,可以将不同学生区分为若干层次或类型,这是因为个体与个体之间不但存在着差异,也具有某些共同性。课堂教学是一种以群体教学为主的教学形式,不可能完全顺应每一个学生的特点与水平,但是要预防与克服学业不良,大面积提高教学质量,又需要教学去适应每一个学生,做到因材施教。将某些特征相似的学生归为一类或一层,有助于针对这一层学生的共同特点和基础开展教学活动,提高教学效率。要强调学生层次的可变性,根据学生基础分层,为了便于开展有针对性的教学,而不是给学生贴上标签,束缚他们的思想,层次的变化可鼓励学生由低层向高层递进。
