Radiation energy, corner frequency and stress drop were measured by applying coda based coda analysis to four seismic sequences occurring in Japan with magnitudes ranging from 1.8 to 6.9. We found that the apparent stress or stress drop of these sequences have no systematic dependence on seismic moment and found both to be lognormally distributed. However, we have also identified several high-energy and weak anomalous seismic events that exhibit spectral features that are distinct from other sequence events. These seismological events show that many changes in apparent stress and stress drop are statistically significant, and this may be of great significance for seismic hazard analysis.
