基因武器又称遗传工程武器,是指按照人的设想,通过基因重组,在一些致病的细菌或病毒中接入能对抗普通疫苗或药物的基因,或者在一些本来不致病的微生物体内“插入”致病基因而制造出来的武器。基因武器是一种具有极大杀伤威力的灭绝种族的新一代生物武器,据称只需20克基因武器就能使50亿人死于一旦,所以有人称之为“世界末日武器”。基因武器有两种类型:一种是针对某种人的基因密码特征去杀伤某种人;另一种是利用基因工程创造某种微生物战剂去破坏人的免疫系统。
