Many studies suggest that the expression of CD34 antigen in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is not conducive to the prognostic factors of complete remission (CR). The authors looked at the relationship between CD34 expression in 80 AML cases diagnosed between 1990 and 1992 with some clinical features and outcomes and the role of CD34 expression in the evaluation of prognosis. Eighty adult AMLs were subtyped according to the FAB criteria. M0 type means that myeloid markers can not be detected by conventional morphological and cytochemical methods but express myeloid-associated antigens CD13 or CD33. Subtype distribution: M0 3 cases, M1 20 cases, M2 23 cases, M4 22 cases, M5 7
