In the spring of 2004, the History Museum of Northwestern University solicited from the civilians a collection of Tang epitaphs and chihtsu of Chang An, a Japanese student studying abroad. The epitaph is covered with a bucket-shaped, side length of 37 cm, 7 cm thick, four brake plain, dark gray limestone, cap with seal writing , From left to right, a total of 4 lines, each line 3 words (Figure 1). Epitaph square, side length 39.5 meters, 10 centimeters thick, gray limestone, and slightly different color (Figure II). Before the inscriptions, the inscriptions are marked with a square pattern, one word for each grid, regular script, left-right vertical writing, 16 lines before and after (there are 4 lines behind), and 16 words in each line. The full text is 171 words in total. It is worth noting that due to the somewhat damaged edge of the upper side of the epitaph, it is difficult to fully identify 9 words in the top row, but this does not affect the interpretation and interpretation of the entire essay. another
