Although there are not many movies in the United States that reflect the theme of blacks, there are films in this area from time to time. In the 1960s there was “Kill a Mockingbird”, “Guess who came to the dinner party”, “Purple”, “Glory” and “Drive for Miss Daisy” in the 80’s. In the 1990s there were “Greenfield Miracles” and “Hurricanes.” All these films have aroused the attention of the world and always remind us that the race’s complete equality has not yet been realized. In 2001, a small studio company launched yet another thought-provoking film on ethnicity, “Dance of Deathmatch” (aka “Evil Love Scars”). The unfortunate passage of the film through black and white families shows that even with racial equality legislation, it can take a long time to change the notion of racial discrimination in the minds of people, especially whites. Black actress Halle Berry won the 74th Academy Award for Best Actress (2002) for this film.
