2009年11月应邀到中山某单位讲课。准备上课资料时我想起了“授人以鱼不如授人以渔”这句话。“授人以鱼,三餐之需;授人以渔,终身之用”。这句话当然是有道理的、正确的。但是这句话是谁说的呢?有人讲是老子讲的。为慎重起见将《老子》逐字逐句翻了两遍,《老子》中根本没有这句话。又查《中华成语大辞典》、三卷本《辞海》、四卷本《辞源》,都没有。怎么办?孔子讲“敏而好学,不耻下问”。我最后想起同行好友董校庭先生,于是将这个难题发邮件问他,果然答案很快回来了。董先生讲:“我听说过有这样一种文化现象,有些老外在写文章时为了增强说服力,达到不容置疑的效果,就把自己写的句子说成是中国古代哲人说的。
November 2009 was invited to a unit in Zhongshan lectures. When I was preparing class materials, I remembered ”To teach people to fish as fish“. ”To teach people to fish, three meals a day; to teach people to fishing for life“. Of course, this sentence is justified and correct. But who said this sentence? Some people say I talk about. For the sake of caution, ”Lao Tzu“ is charapond by word and sentence by sentence, and ”Lao Tzu“ does not have this sentence at all. Also check ”Dictionary of Chinese idioms“, three volumes of ”Ci Hai“, four volumes of ”Ci Yuan“, none at all. What to do? Confucius say ”sensitive and studious, shamelessly asked.“ Finally, I remind my fellow colleague Mr. Dong Jardine, so I sent an e-mail asking him this question, and sure enough the answer came back. Mr. Dong said: ”I have heard of such a cultural phenomenon. Some foreigners, in order to enhance their persuasiveness in writing articles and reach an indisputable effect, have described the sentence they wrote as an ancient Chinese philosopher.
