夏洛特·帕金斯·吉尔曼在《谋生》中详细描述了主人公努力创业谋生的过程。文本一方面体现了人类在创造生存条件的同时也能顾及生态环境,另一方面体现了男女主人公如何通过互相尊重和欣赏实现两性的平等以及生活中的和谐相处。通过对《谋生》中经济和自然环境关系以及两性关系的分析,深入探讨吉尔曼女性主义观点以及生态和谐思想,认为《谋生》完美地融合了吉尔曼的两性观与生态观。
Charlotte Perkins Gilman elaborates on the protagonist’s pioneering efforts to earn a living by making a living. On the one hand, the text shows that mankind can also take ecological environment into consideration while creating living conditions. On the other hand, it shows how the male and female protagonists can achieve the equality between men and women and live harmoniously through mutual respect and appreciation. Through analyzing the relationship between economy and natural environment in “making a living” and the analysis of the relationship between the sexes, this paper explores the Gilman feminist viewpoint and the idea of ecological harmony, and holds that “making a living” perfectly integrates Gilman’s outlook on gender and ecology.
