金坑冲金矿位于双峰县城北东19km,矿区东起井冲,西至王家湾,东西长3km,南北宽1km。区内为板溪群高涧组含钙质板岩和深灰—灰黑色粉砂质绢云母板岩。地层呈东—西走向,倾向北,倾角50°—70°。区内断裂和次级褶皱发育,断裂有两组:一组走向北西西,倾向北,为压扭性断裂,另一组为近南—北走向的张性断裂。断裂内有花岗斑岩和含金石英脉充填。区内共有花岗斑岩脉7条,最大者长460m,厚4—34m,其内有石英脉产出,经测定花岗斑岩中之石英脉地表样含金微,为0—
