2002年7月10日至12日,由国家自然科学基金委员会、美国吴贤铭基金会联合主办,海外青年联谊会、中国机械工程学会、美国国家科学基金会和美国机械工程师协会协办,大连理工大学承办的“第五届海内外青年设计与制造科学会议”在大连举行,大会得到海内外设计制造界专家学者的积极响应,来自国内外370多名专家学者参加了此次会议,其中海外学者70多人。美国国家科学基金会和英国工程科学基金会专程组团参加了会议。 本届会议主席是国家自然科学基金委周炳琨副主任。 海内外青年设计与制造科学会议是由国家自然科学基金委员会和美国吴贤铭基金会联合举办,由中国香港蒋氏工业慈善基金会、中国高校校友海外联谊会和大连理工大学等协办的系列青年学术会议,会议每两年召开一次。由申办单位提出申请,经系列会议专家委员会民主选举,决定会
