历史上的英雄 ,是指那种“聪能谋始 ,明能见机 ,力能服众 ,勇能排难”者。现代信息社会 ,已经失去了这种英雄产生的土壤。“英雄不再”是没有办法阻挡的事情 ,这已获得高度共识。全球信息社会中再提“英雄”可以是个人主义式的美学生活 ,对于有勇气的个人来说 ,可以与系统化的网络关系保持张力 ,或若即若离的关系。过去历史英雄的苦难以及无畏死亡 ,与这个美学与存在的张力有着相通之处。“英雄不再”是一种社会学式的描述 ,但这并不是说过去历史英雄的种种已在宇宙中消失。再提“英雄”的社会学意义 ,乃是希望它立足生活世界 ,在和体制系统的周旋中保持可能的张力与勇气 ,并且有能力与魄力面对不确定性的未来 ,将过去与未来拉近于现实。
