在黑龙江境内长白山、大小兴安岭和完达山脉的深山密林里,盛产成群的马鹿。马鹿身上所长的东西,每件都是宝,如肉可供食用,皮可制革,茸、角、尾、便、筋、血、胎等郁是很贵重的药材,尤其是鹿茸有“东北三宝”之称。打死一只公鹿,取一付茸,可收入一千元;而养一只公鹿,一般可取十付茸,能收入一万元。我省各人民公社并把养鹿列为开展多种经营中一项重要的副业生产。在此以前,都是采取杀鹿取茸的方法生产鹿茸。据不完全统计,每年杀鹿约在三千只左右。只捕杀,不保护,使鹿的产量逐年在下降着。
