鉴于目前瓷石等陶瓷原料术语在概念和使用上的混乱状况,本文首先从古陶瓷学研究入手,得出了瓷石等名词术语和“陶”、“瓷”二字一样,都源于我国先于外国;进而根据国际标准化组织(ISO)推荐标准《命名原则》,给出了瓷石瓷土、陶石、陶土的定义,并论证了它们的基本特征;这样定义既统一了认识,又保持了传统的名词概念的连续性,为陶瓷原料的分类和研究工作提供了方便。
